📖 Waterford History
Founded by Vikings in AD 914, Waterford is Ireland’s oldest city. Its historic Viking Triangle is home to museums, medieval streets and Reginald’s Tower—Ireland’s oldest civic building, which has been in continuous use for more than 800 years.
The Copper Coast takes its name from the copper-mining industry that once flourished in the area. Its rocks tell a geological story stretching back approximately 460 million years.
