📖 Historic Clare

The Cliffs of Moher were formed more than 320 million years ago and rise to approximately 214 metres at their highest point. Their name comes from *Mothar*, an old Irish word meaning “the ruin of a fort.”

O’Brien’s Tower was built in 1835 by local landowner Cornelius O’Brien as a viewing point for visitors. On a clear day, views can extend towards the Aran Islands and Galway Bay.

Miltown Malbay is famous for traditional Irish music and hosts the annual Willie Clancy Summer School, celebrating Irish music, song and dance.
