đ Historic Note
Banna Strand is where Irish revolutionary Roger Casement landed from a German submarine on Good Friday, 21 April 1916. His arrival was connected with an unsuccessful attempt to bring German arms into Ireland for the Easter Rising. Casement was arrested shortly afterwards near Banna Strand.
